Mayara’s meditation exercise is borrowed from the fantastic Tenzan Aikido, who are giving their kids activities to do while they are at home and the dojo is closed.
When I found out my dojo was going to be closed for a while to help us all stay safe, I contacted them and made sure my fees were fully paid up to the end of the year. They have bills to pay and I want to make sure I have a dojo to return to!
Transcript:
Mayara practices social distancing.
This is Mayara.
She loves astronomy, climbing trees, Aikido and adventure.
She doesn’t talk about it much, but she has asthma and pleurisy. Sometimes, just breathing feels like being stabbed.
She doesn’t like staying home, but it’s extra important for her.
Mayara: And thanks if you’re also distancing and helping me stay safe.
She’s sending silly selfies to Boot, while Boot is out helping people.
She’s looking at her bookshelf and deciding which authors to send fan emails to.
She’s practicing her meditation. If she can get to 2 minutes she’ll get a prize from her dojo when it opens again.
Thanks to all my patrons and a special big extra thanks to Mike Decuir, Lisa Jenkins, Kate Webb, Matthew Noe, and Erik Owomoyela.
