I saw a great video a while back, “how to be a great beginner” (Cathy Hays on youtube). This reminded me of that.
I tell myself with sewing and baking and other crafts the same thing I told myself when I started doing Aikido twenty years ago, “it doesn’t matter if you’re good at it, you’re just going to do it, no matter what. And it doesn’t matter how dumb you look in the meantime, you’re going to learn. Being good at it can wait till later.”

Wonderful advice! 🙂
Syne Mitchell
I found this tremendously encouraging. The “will giving up make you happy?” line especially resonates. Thanks for putting this message out into the world!
