The things illustrate the first part of the poem Dive for Dreams.

Bunson dives through the air next to Boot.

dive for dreams

or a slogan may topple you

Mayara swings on a tree

(trees are their roots

and wind is wind)

Thing 1 looks up, a little concerned. Thing 2 looks out at us, a little concerned

trust your heart

if the seas catch fire

The Things close their eyes and smile

(and live by love

though the stars walk backward)
