The Return of the Worst! (Comic #765)

The phrase "The Worst" has come up a time or two in these comics! Comic 515, The Worst!!!!! continues to be one of my favorites.

I'm quite pleased by this comic. Good support, good mentoring isn't just about being there for a person. It's helping a person connect more broadly to a fabric of support. Connecting, not isolating.

The Return of the Worst! Comic Transcript

Thing 1: I'm the worst!

Thing 2: I think you should ask lots of people to tell you nice things about you and write them down!

Thing 1: Oh no!

Thing 2: And that's not the worst part!

Thing 2: You should listen and not immediately inject "no" or "but"

Thing 1: You are very mean.

Thing 2: I might be the worst!

Thanks to all my patrons and a special big extra thanks to Kate Webb, Erik Owomoyela, Stuart Barrow, Jesse the K, Brian Fies and Tracey Radford.

I Like Trees

Our tree is a little small, so I had to tape the things onto it! To make these ornaments I had to buy crayons pencils and markers, all those things had been left behind when we moved to America. I think coloring in should be for folds of all ages. It isn’t wasted time, it’s useful meditation.

Astronomically Correct Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

What fabulous timing! I stumbled across this the day after Mayara went for a walk across the sky. Mayara approves of this song

Festive Ornaments

When I was a kid my favorite ornaments were Richard Scary color it in yourself ornaments. Some were colored, some had a single line of crayon through them. they were paper cut outs with holes punched in them and ribbon, string or wire from bread bag attaching them to the tree. I love holidays as an excuse for crafts. There’s something special about learning how to make popcorn strings or fold crepe paper into streamers. There is a pleasure in making, mastering and being part of a communal effort that is seen. I made these ornaments for you, just print them out, color in, cut out and add string. If you do use any I’d love to see them. You can mention in the comments or send me an e-mail. I’ve printed out a copy for myself, but I have not yet colored mine in! The Things can be any color or pattern in the world (or non-world) so it’s hard to decide how to do it!

A Letter to the Children at St Baldricks

This comic/letter exists because one of the fabulous Uncanny Magazine Kickstarter Patrons. By supporting Uncanny David Buksbaum earned himself a pack of mini-comics, temporary tattoos, shrinky dinks and a letter from any of the characters in the Things. David decided to use his letter to send some good cheer to the kids at St Baldricks on behalf of himself and his daughter, Rachel. ^_^ Hooray for good peoples!

World Fantasy Con Sketch 2!

Folks who came by the SFWA table at WFC were offered free sketches. I drew this one for Karen Meisner. She asked for something with unicorn and moon. She had no idea I was working on a unicorn monkey sketch at the time! Hooray for Chuffles! I think Mayara and Chuffles will go on more adventures together.

Things on Holiday – a guest sketch by Lee Moyer

Early on Monday morning Mr Lee Moyer depicted this charming moment of the Things’ on holiday, whereupon they met tall charming creatures who were exceedingly well travelled and curious.
